Pu-erh tea is made from large-leaf of Camellia Sinensis; an aged, fermented tea that comes from the Yunnan province in China. Pu-erh tea is unique because it can be aged for decades or longer, and it’s made from a natural fermentation process. This process oxidizes the plant’s leaves and strengthens its antioxidant benefits.
It is typically processed into compressed cakes and bricks. Raw Pu-erh is the traditional form of Pu-erh which is sun-dried and compressed. Ripe Pu-erh is fermented during a 40-50 day period that changes the tea into a dark red-brown in colour.
